absolute newbie question
Hello!

I would very much appreciate it if you could help me. I want to make good quality stereograms (a la Magic Eye). I have come across much software–from freeware to shareware to 0 professional software. However, it is hard for me to make out which can actually serve my needs.

I am looking for the following:

1. Software that can make depth maps without my having to use programming language. I would like to be able to either create the maps or import images that I could then play with.
2. The ability to make textures that are interesting and varied, as one finds in the Magiceye books, not just one repetitious texture.

3. The ability to make “floaters.”

4. Software that is inexpensive (or free!).

5. A text that can help a non-technical person like me do a decent job.
